About Me

George Clinkscales Jr.

My Story

I’m a developer passionate about making learning fun and accessible through "edu-tainment"—educational entertainment that engages and inspires.

I graduated from Colorado State University and am now at the Apple Developer Academy, where I focus on building products that are useful, inclusive, and technically strong. My transition into software was driven by curiosity and a hands-on approach to solving real problems. I care deeply about UI/UX and creating experiences that feel intuitive and accessible for everyone.

My project experience is diverse. I’ve built a full-featured game (TakeFlight), contributed to civic and operational apps like CommonSight and SlotParking, and developed educational tools such as Stamped! and LearnToCode. Coding this portfolio was my first HTML, CSS, and JavaScript project, and LearnToCode was my second web project, expanding my skills in multi-language educational tools. I am currently working to bring an MVP to life, navigating the challenges of field testing, iteration, and stakeholder engagement—an experience that’s deepened my skills in product development and real-world impact.

Outside of work, I love to ride my bike, explore new restaurants, and volunteer at local food banks. These experiences keep me inspired and connected to my community, and they shape how I approach building products—with empathy, creativity, and a focus on real-world impact.

Currently, I’m contributing through an internship, helping a small business owner shape an investor-ready demo. That experience has sharpened how I balance speed, clarity, and user trust in every build.

What began as curiosity has evolved into a dedicated pursuit of excellence. As I prepare to graduate the Apple Developer Academy in Detroit, MI, I’m proud of the foundations I’ve laid, but even more motivated by the challenges ahead. What defines my approach isn't just the code—it’s the intention behind it. I thrive on understanding the 'why' before building the 'how,' ensuring every solution I create serves a clear, human purpose.

What I Build

I build SwiftUI-first experiences with an emphasis on accessibility, interaction design, and maintainable architecture. I care about products that feel intuitive on day one and scale with real user needs.

  • SwiftUI app development with Firebase, SpriteKit, and persistent data workflows
  • Cross-platform UX decisions for iPad and macOS, including full keyboard compatibility
  • Accessibility-minded product decisions and interaction patterns from the start

How I Learned

My learning journey has been shaped by hands-on projects, teamwork, and Challenge Based Learning (CBL). At the Apple Developer Academy, mentorship is a key part of the experience—experienced professionals help us grow by challenging our thinking and supporting us as we tackle real-world problems. CBL introduced me to learning through action, working in teams, and applying knowledge to solve authentic challenges. This environment fostered collaboration, creativity, and practical problem-solving.

Outside the classroom, I’ve spent countless hours on YouTube tutorials, breaking down other people’s code on GitHub, and working on personal projects. Since I began coding, I’ve truly immersed myself in the process and have a lot of fun solving these problems. I would love to continue learning and building as I move forward.

Through feedback and shared experience, I thrive where learning is active, collaborative, and directly connected to building real products.

What Guides Me

My approach is simple: understand the user context, build with intention, and ship work that is clear to both users and stakeholders. Accessibility, clarity, and thoughtful details are not extras; they are the work.

I believe strong products start with user empathy and are sustained by clean, reliable implementation.

I believe design should reduce friction, clarify decisions, and make complex systems feel simple.

I believe accessibility should be integrated from the first prototype through final iteration.

I believe great software respects platform strengths and meets people where they are across devices.
